How far we go often depends on our mindset.
During a recent speaking engagement, I faced a challenge in connecting my computer’s audio to the venue’s sound system. When I approached the technician for assistance, his immediate response was, “It’s not possible to connect — your computer has a problem.” I didn’t dwell on it, as I’ve encountered similar situations before, and I quickly found an alternative way to create a meaningful experience for the participants without audio.
At another event, I experienced a similar issue. This time, the support person responded differently: “Let me see what I can do, we will sort it out.” He took ownership, explored alternatives, and eventually found a solution that made everything work seamlessly.
The contrast between these two situations highlights an important truth: our perspective shapes our actions. The moment we decide “it’s not possible,” our mind shuts down potential solutions. But when we approach challenges with an open mindset — believing there must be a way — we unlock creativity, persistence, and results.
Our thoughts drive our outcomes. If we feed our minds with possibility, we will find ways to go further, pivot when needed, and go the extra mile. No matter the circumstances, there is always a way forward.
