Afeef Hussain Delivers Closing Keynote at the 5th Civil Service Conference 2026 on Service Leadership and Excellence
Maldives | 2026 – Afeef Hussain, keynote speaker, executive coach and mentor, delivered the closing keynote at the 5th Civil Service Conference 2026, sharing insights on building a culture of service leadership and excellence.
The keynote marked a significant milestone in Afeef’s professional journey, bringing together his experience in hospitality leadership, team management and service excellence. The occasion also carried personal significance, as the venue reminded him of an earlier chapter in his career.
Between 2008 and 2012, Afeef managed the One&Only Reethi Rah Volleyball Team, widely remembered for its success in resort volleyball. During this period, he gained valuable experience navigating team dynamics, celebrating victories, overcoming setbacks and developing the leadership skills that continue to shape his professional approach.
Returning to the stage years later to speak about leadership and service excellence offered a meaningful opportunity to reflect on how those experiences had contributed to his growth as a leader and mentor.
Reflecting on the milestone, Afeef drew inspiration from Steve Jobs’ well-known observation: “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward.”
The reflection reinforced an important leadership lesson: every experience, whether a success or a challenge, can contribute to personal and professional development. The lessons learned through teamwork, adversity and service can shape how leaders inspire others, build stronger teams and create better experiences for the people they serve.
As a keynote speaker and executive coach, Afeef continues to draw on his experience in the hospitality industry and leadership development to encourage individuals and organisations to embrace service excellence, strengthen leadership capabilities and create a positive impact.
The milestone at the 5th Civil Service Conference 2026 serves as a reminder that leadership is shaped not only by achievements, but also by the people, opportunities and challenges encountered along the way.
